As a blogger myself, I find it also quite hard to update regularly and momentum might be the most important rule if you want to be successful with your blog (not just on monetary terms but also if you want to be proud of your work). It goes without saying, the content must be a priority and it must be relevant to your interests, whereas writing about stuff that doesn’t hold any relevance might result in dry, dull writing and it ends up damaging the whole work. So if you see that you can’t hold up to a really tight schedule, maybe it would be advisable to downscale a little bit in order to regain momentum.
StackEdit is a great tool for converting text into .html or copying it from WordPress, Google Docs or Word without the formatting changing. The distinction you made between the two jobs is spot-on. I worked as a copywriter in various ad agencies, crafting TV, print and radio ads (this was pre-internet), before branching into content writing. Knowing the rigors of both jobs, I must say I have the utmost respect for what each kind of writer does. It might benefit your readers to know though that – as a content writer – I’m also increasingly being expected to write award applications, press releases, even speeches. In this profession, the more flexible one is, the more employable he/she is.
Ahrefs is a massive SEO toolkit you can use to propel your writings toward the first page in search. It will let you track its ups and downs over time.

I have previously worked as a copy writer and my current position is content development. In my current position, I work at a fairly progressive, young and energetic company. In this company I do both content development and copy writing. I am of the opinion that having a distinction between the two roles to be a more old school way of thinking. Especially in this day and age it is important to be flexible and adaptable, even more so if you are a writer. I think that people who are stuck being on one side of the coin and refusing to adapt will be left behind and be out of a job in 10 years time.

Content writing is the art of creating content. It needs to either inform, educate or entertain; it needs to have a clear purpose and/or reason behind the piece; it needs to represent the brand’s voice; it needs to be a good read/watch/listen. The best content writing is focused on the quality of the editorial, no matter if it comes from a brand or a publisher. For brands (and some data-driven publishers), content writing aligns with strategic business and marketing goals to attract audiences and potential customers.
Both content and copywriters obtain different skills and there is a grey area with some overlap in their descriptions but it can be difficult if you are a content writer with the expectations set of you of a copywriter. I agree, they are still different. Although going forward, they will slowly require the need to obtain both skills in their arsenal – what are your thoughts on this?
Copywriters are praised for the creation and ideation of words in campaigns, where the marketing material is used to persuade a person or a group to think or act a particular way. This is generally achieved in short-form copy or storytelling, evoking emotion and a personal connection with the audience; it also lends itself to a humorous or jovial tone – perfect for straplines or headers. In fact, for a Copywriter, brevity is vital.
CopyPress pays out writing assignments per word, depending on individual campaigns. As a content writer, you’ll be assigned projects that you can accept or reject. An editor will review your work. Projects are typically blog posts in the 300- to 500-word range. While some reviews on Glassdoor suggest a net-90 payment window and low payment rates, other reviews note high work volume.
Since Google and other search engines show to potential customers content based on relevance to people’s search terms, it’s essential to keep your content up to date. Site visitors also respond better to content that is perceived to be valuable. If your content is outdated, there’s less incentive for them to stick around and read it. Finally, it’s also important to refresh your website content as SEO requirements change to make sure it’s always easy for people to find your website via search engines.
To appeal to companies that might hire them, SEO content writers should be able to show their writing skills through a history of publication. Online writing communities are good for sharing writing samples and networking with other writers. In addition to school assignments or internships, writers can accumulate portfolio samples by getting published in newspapers, magazines, professional journals and blogs.

An understanding of keywords and search engine behavior are important for SEO when writing copy for the web. This means copy for a website may have to contain certain keywords that people search when looking for something. If those keywords are used properly and in the proper places within the article, more traffic will come to the website via a search engine, and the owner of the website could have the potential of making more money.
