So, whenever someone asks me what I do, I reply that I’m a content writer. Quite often, they aren’t sure what that means, and for good reason.  It’s not the most descriptive job title in the world, but that’s because content writing has to remain as open and flexible as it can; content writers wear a lot of hats.  Ask 10 different content writers what they do during the day, and you’ll most likely get 10 different answers.  The truth is the job of a content writer is about much more than just churning out articles or blog posts.  Let’s take a moment to break down the job of the content writer, and see if we can develop a more thorough understanding of just what we content writers do – and why you probably need one.
Although you may be quick to go with Microsoft Word or OpenOffice Writer as your word-processing application of choice, they may not be the best solution. Yes, they are incredibly powerful, but sometimes you need something a lot more streamlined and simple that will help you focus on your writing. We recommend Calmly Writer. You get only the most basic content writing tools, such as the ability to insert different subheadings, quotes, and links, so you can concentrate on getting all your ideas on the screen. Check out its “Focus Mode,” which takes this approach to a whole new level, which makes everything blurry except for the paragraph you are working on.
I’ve never written a cold email to potential clients (it is a valid tactic, and many copywriters use cold emailing to find clients). I got all my first clients through guest posting. I wasn’t planning to be a copywriter and I didn’t feel ready for it either, but as I was blogging about what I was learning about writing, people asked whether I’d write for them. (If you’re interested, you can read the story of how I got started here: https://smartblogger.com/online-career).

Users rely on search to buy: In most cases, visitors to your site probably come from search — or a website that links to yours. Around 80 percent of users admit to starting their search for a new product on a search engine, like Google. If your site wants to appear in those relevant searches, you need content optimized for not only search but also readers — and for that, you need top SEO copywriting services.
Mike Dickson and Ken Wells are two well renowned online instructors. While Michael is a published author, skilled researcher and entrepreneur; Ken is the author of multiple coaching programs covering topics such as online course creation, sales and marketing, personal transformation and much more. Since Google and other search engines show to potential customers content based on relevance to people’s search terms, it’s essential to keep your content up to date. Site visitors also respond better to content that is perceived to be valuable. If your content is outdated, there’s less incentive for them to stick around and read it. Finally, it’s also important to refresh your website content as SEO requirements change to make sure it’s always easy for people to find your website via search engines.

To accurately and efficiently isolate your target prospect's problems (which will illuminate the benefits most fascinating to them) start by answering a series of questions about their personal background, their company and the position they hold, and their challenges, goals, and shopping preferences. In other words, create a buyer persona. As a result, you’ll amass an abundance of invaluable information that you can then use to attract attention and inspire action.
This is a great course. Nick explains everything clearly using great examples. Made me look at headlines very differently. I feel better able to have a go at writing more professional headlines now. Lots of useful exercises. I would have appreciated some model answers to the early exercises. Just to know if I was on the right track. – Malene Bertelsen

Lack of creative license. Though you may think content writing will give you a chance to showcase your creativity and rousing ability with words, in fact, most content writing is seen as a way to sell a product or simply inform a reader of the facts. In a content writer role, you will likely be writing about dry or dull topics, though you may get a chance to also write copy for more engaging projects on occasion. Your employer will dictate the topics you write about, and you will need to learn to be flexible and engaged on even the most obscure or boring subjects, regardless of your personal preference.[4]

A confusing or dull message is rarely compelling, mainly because people don’t pay much attention to what they don’t perceive to be valuable. If you think about it, most things in life boil down to value. It’s a potent human driver. Therefore, as a copywriter, your job is to first and foremost figure out the value in what you’re selling and then put it into clear, concise, and compelling words.
When you are launching a product and want to attract potential clients, it would be wise to mention in the letter how this product can help the clients and their customers. Mention the benefits of the product and tell them how unique it is. In the end, you can mention that they can buy the product from a certain location or a specific location, which you want to mention.
There are several ways to assess website content quality. If content appears in search engines and people who find it stick around to read it, the content is well optimized, and relevant and useful to visitors. Quality content uses proper spelling and grammar, and links to authoritative external sources. You can also assess the quality of your content by checking analytics data. Pages with a high bounce rate, low time on page, or low conversion rate may have poor content.
Search engine optimization (SEO) is all about improving your content to get better Google search engine rankings. Without excellent content, your site won’t appear in the top search engine results. That’ll make it harder for visitors and potential customers to find your site when they search. Good content is optimized both for search engines and human beings. When you use the right keyword phrases in the right place, your content will appear in the searches it’s most relevant to.
We all have opinions on what types of content go viral: a soundless social video, a data-backed explainer, a perfectly timed newsjack. But no matter the format, it ultimately comes down to emotion. Does the story make you feel enraged, inspired, understood? With everything you create you have to ask: If this scrolled by on my newsfeed, would I care? If the answer is no, it’s not worth it. Your online content habits are your own best judge.
While successful content writers seem to have an enviable life -- they work from home, make their own schedules and work as much or as little as they please -- the vast majority have a hard time making a living of it. They lack the skills necessary to succeed. Because no matter how talented they are, writing skill is simply not enough. So, if you want to become successful as a content writer, you need a full toolkit of marketable skills.

Next, outline the required and preferred skills for your position. This may include education, previous job experience, certifications and technical skills. You may also include soft skills and personality traits that you envision for a successful hire. While it may be tempting to include a long list of skills and requirements, including too many could dissuade qualified candidates from applying. Keep your list of qualifications concise, but provide enough detail with relevant keywords and terms.

This might seem obvious, but I see a lot of content that falls flat because the tone and style don’t fit the purpose of the piece or the culture of the brand. For example, a landing page should probably contain copy that is short and designed to persuade the reader to take action. In contrast, a white paper will likely work best with more details to explain a more complex issue.
